About the Chorus: The George Margitich Russian Male Chamber Chorus is in its second year of presenting Russian Orthodox sacred music.

It is a natural evolution in the musical odyssey of its founder George Margitich. Over the past 40 years he has conducted the Russian Liturgical Singers and was the founder and conductor of the Don Cossack Chorus and Dancers of America.

The present chorus is made up of a dedicated group of choir conductors and singers. The chorus includes professional and non-professional singers. All are united in their love of the beauty of Russian Orthodox Church Music. However, this chorus will include secular songs that are beautiful and inspiring in their own right.

The chorus has presented concerts in Orthodox churches in Rahway and Paterson, including non-orthodox churches in Montclair and Philipsburg and plans to appear in other churches in the Metropolitan area. Rehearsals are held regularly at St. John the Baptist Russian Orthodox church in Little Falls, N.J.

George Margitich, the founder and conductor of the chorus and Andrew Miketzuk, currently conducting and is also the music arranger. It is their vision to keep alive the spirit and beauty of Church Slavonic music inspired from the traditions of the Russian Liturgical Singers and Don Cossack Chorus and Dancers of America.

Biographies GEORGE MARGITICH Founder and Conductor of the Chorus is following in the footsteps of his friend and tutor Serge Jaroff, the conductor of The Original Don Cossack Chorus. Upon Jaroff’s retirement, Mr. Margitich, in 1980, founded and conducted The Don Cossack Chorus and Dancers of America. Mr Jaroff noted, ” Mr. Margitich not only uses his hands to conduct, his eyes, but also breathes with the Chorus. Therefore, he supports the strength of the singers and the soloists.” In 1964, Mr. Margitich took up his role as conductor of the Russian Liturgical-Folk Singers and recorded ” The Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom” sung entirely in Church Slavonic, and later recored selections of Russian Sacred Music and Folk Songs.” In 1978, the Chorus and internationally renowned tenor, Nicolai Gedda, performed ofr an SRO audience at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. He also wrote a book called ” Series of Recollections.” ANDREW MIKETZUK Is the assistant conductor and music arranger of The George Margitich Russian Male Chamber Chorus, positions he also held in The Don Cossack Chorus and Dancers of America and the Russian Liturgical-Folk Singers. He also assisted in the two recordings mentioned above. Mr. Miketzuk has been a Choirmaster in several Russian Orthodox churches in New Jersey, and is currently conducting at St. John the Baptist Russian Orthodox Church in Little Falls, N.J. Mr. Miketzuk is currently conducting The George Margitich Russian Male Chamber Chorus DR. VICTOR BANDURCO Manager and the driving force of the chorus. He is widely known throughout the Russian circles of musicians and choral groups. Mr. Bandurco has been with Mr. Margitich as a manager for the past thirty years with the Don Cossack Chorus and Dancers of America, The Cappela and The George Margitich Russian Male Chorus. It should be known that Mr. Badurco has an excellent bass voice and soloist with the above mentioned choruses.
